Through WSB, writers can officially register their screenplays before submitting them to festivals, producers, or studios — ensuring their intellectual and material rights are fully protected for a period of five years.

Rights and Legal Framework

The registered work remains the sole property of the author; no third party may use, copy, or distribute it without written permission.
Registration is valid for five (5) years from the date of certification and may be renewed upon request.
All registered works are protected under the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works and other relevant international copyright agreements.
How to Register
Certificate of Ownership
Upon completion of registration, the author will receive an official certificate including:
- Global Registration Number (WSB-ID)
- Exact date and time of registration (Timestamp)
- Title of the work and author’s name
- Official digital seal of WSB and the signature of WHCA Secretariat

Frequently Asked Questions
Does WSB replace national copyright registration?
No. However, the WSB certificate serves as international proof of authorship and originality, recognized by film institutions and legal authorities.
Can a screenplay be updated or revised after registration?
Yes. Each new version must be submitted as a separate registration, linked to the original WSB-ID.
Does WSB assist in legal disputes over stolen works?
Yes. Upon the author’s formal request, WSB can provide all necessary documentation to support legal or arbitration proceedings.
